WHAT TO BRING ON A TOUR

Prepared by: Greg Earhart (Feb 2007)

A new year is upon us and by the count of Model A’s on our first tour it will be a great year. In preparation of happy tours it is necessary that we consider the possibility of break downs. Yes, we have had many road side seminars. As a car owner, either new or old, we must consider the need for parts and tool when the time arises. The list that follows is composed of items needed in the past. The list may seem long, but in reality all items can be easily stored in the car. Do not use a tool box(s). Many items are small, and weigh almost nothing. So for example I use cotton socks, cotton gloves (for open and closed end tools, spark plug wrench etc.) and Zip Lock baggies. The most important then is a list of these items and were they stored. Make a list and keep it in your side door pocket. On a tour, time is important. Test every spare part by actually running it on your Model A before placing the part among your spares. The list is divided into two groups: tools and supplies that should be carried all the time and stored under your seat. The other list is for those long tours.
