WINGS N' WHEELS - 2004

On Thursday Oct. 14th, we all met at Coco 's Restaurant to begin our trip to Buellton.... In attendance were Don "our fearless" leader Miller and Sally, John and Gwen Riggs (so happy you were with us Gwen),Bruce and Joanie Harris, Vince Mariola (missed you Joan).... Marion Wavra and Bill and Eleanor Shaner.
The Trip Begins - We had a stop at McDonalds for a bite to eat, then on to Oxnard for gas, and to Carl's to eat again.... (ha ha)…. Arrived @ the Best Western around 2:00p.m. Had a fun Happy Hour outside at the tables, where everyone brought appetizers for sharing.... the weather was perfect 86 degrees....
Later on 4 of us went to the Casino, (Vince, Marion , Sally and Joanie).. Vince was our chauffeur *(without the hat).... Went in Vince's Caddie in style.
Had a fun time playing the slots....(no really big winners)....Vince while waiting for us to meet him at the front door of the casino, saw Pat Benatar and beautiful showgirls.... come into the casino....We left at 9:00 (bedtime) to return to our rooms....
Friday, ate in the Gazebo for Danish coffee, toast and OJ Very tasty.
then onward to the Santa Ynez Airport to register... Back to our motel for another happy hour....(oh boy more food)....
Saturday. "up and at ‘em" Don got us going to get back to the airport for our tour. There were about 150 people with Model A's and also some vintage cars. Our tour took us to Fess Parkers Winery, for a coffee stop (compliments of the Lions Club), also there was wine tasting available for those who wanted to try out the grapes.... (ha) and the stop included a much needed Restroom Stop.... Onward, to Santa Maria through beautiful scenery, on a winding back road.... We ended up in Santa Maria at an old Flight Museum at the Airport. Very interesting and informative.... Next we went to a park in Santa Maria .... Very pretty with a fountain and lots of trees .... We had a BBQ of hamburgers with all the trimmings.... So much to eat and soooo good.... Off again.... back to Santa Ynez airport to drop off passengers and then return to our rooms the motel .... a 1/12 hour rest .... then Don was hustling us again out our doors back to the airport for the dinner BBQ of Tri tip steak, beans salad and garlic bread .... It was excellent.... We all enjoyed ourselves. "Wagons Ho" called Don and off we went back to the motel.... It rained Sat. night off and on and was a little rainy on Sun. a.m.
We all packed up and checked out.. then back to the Santa Ynez Airport for a breakfast of eggs, sausage pancakes OJ and coffee.... (very good). Left the airport and headed for home. Stopped again to get gas and eat at Wendy's in Oxnard . We were hoping after that we all could make it home the rest of the way without food... Ha, Ha.... We all had a Great Time, Good Food, and enjoyed all the festivities with Great people. Thanks to our "Tour Leader" Don, for a job well done.
